The Cromlech Club WhatsApp Community
The Club’s WhatsApp Community account is called Cromlech Club. All Club members are encouraged to join the community; it is one of the main routes for communicating meet updates, reminders and other time sensitive information.
Membership of the community and its groups is restricted to members of the Cromlech Club.
The community comprises:
- Announcements
Every member of the community sees Announcements. These are used for issuing meet fliers, reminders and other Club notices. Only administrators have access to post these.
And,
- Groups
All Groups are open for any member of the community to join. Any member of a group can make posts as well as replying to other posts with likes, comments etc.

Cromlech Friends
This is the general chat forum for members to share information and photos.
Special Interest Groups
These are for posting material of interest to a more limited audience allowing detailed posts on these subjects without using Cromlech Friends. At present there are two of these groups:
- Cromlech Cycle Tourers
- Cromlech Skiing
Special Interest Groups can be set up within the community as members wish, please let the Secretary know so the list of the groups and administrators can be kept up to date. Thanks.
Members can opt to join and leave Cromlech Friends or the Special Interest Groups directly on WhatsApp as they wish. This is done directly using the app – in case of any problems please contact the Secretary.

Guidelines For Posting on Groups
- Material should be in line with the Club’s activities or otherwise of interest to the membership.
- Posts should aim to be concise and informative.
- They should not be used for extended blogs, or one-to-one discussions – please use private Facebook/WhatsApp accounts or similar for this.
- Be aware that by posting material (pictures, video clips, text) on the Club’s WhatsApp groups you are agreeing to make it available to be included in the Club Archive and potential use elsewhere e.g. in the Cromlech Times. Any use will be in line with the Club’s Privacy Policy and Photos – Consent to Publish Policy.
- Posts remain visible on the group with no expiry date
- Common-sense social-media guidelines apply so don’t post material that is offensive, political, or anything you wouldn’t want your grandmother to read. Whilst the groups are limited to members of the club remember that anything can be screen grabbed or forwarded accidentally.
- Be kind! There is a wide range of familiarity and competence amongst the Club membership in the use of WhatsApp and anyone we can make a mistake – if you see a post that is erroneous or otherwise out of place, please offer a gentle reminder to the poster (this can be done in a private message).
