About Us

The Cromlech Club was founded in 1952 and is celebrating it’s 70-year anniversary with the publication of its second book, ‘The First Seventy Years.’ An initial membership of 17 has grown over time to a relatively stable size of 70. In the early years members would meet on Thursday evenings in a Manchester pub to decide where to go at the weekend, what to climb, who to climb with, where to stay, and, critically, who had transport and could offer a lift to anyone in need.

Things are very different now, and members communicate very effectively by email and social media.

The Club has a very comprehensive archive library of documents and photographs from the 1950s to the present day. The archive is in the Members’ Area of the website.

For further details please contact the Club Secretary through the Contact Us page.

The Cromlech Club is affiliated to the BMC.
